Welcome to CESS Course

In cooperation with University of Brasilia (UnB)

πŸš€ New CESS Course Begins March 24th! πŸ“’

πŸ“… Mark your calendars! Our CESS Network Course kicks off on March 24th, 2025. Get ready for an in-depth journey into decentralized data infrastructure and how CESS is transforming data storage and management in Web3.

We are thrilled to announce the 1st CESS Network Cohort in cooperation with University of Brasilia (UnB), an immersive learning experience designed to equip participants with cutting-edge decentralized data infrastructure knowledge and hands-on development skills. This cohort includes both learning & building opportunities with exciting rewards!

This course is an in-depth journey into the future of decentralized data value infrastructure. This comprehensive 10-episode series is designed to provide you with a strong understanding of the CESS Network, from its foundational principles to hands-on development. You will learn how CESS is revolutionizing data management and delivery through its decentralized solutions.

Throughout this course, you'll explore key aspects of CESS, including its architecture, ecosystem, and the powerful technologies that underpin it. You'll also gain practical experience with CESS APIs, developing dApps, setting up and running nodes, and even adding custom features to the CESS source code.

πŸ† Prize Pool & Course Rewards

🎯 Total Prize Pool: $3,000 worth of CESS Tokens

πŸ₯‡ 1st Place: $1,500 worth of CESS tokens πŸ₯ˆ 2nd Place: $1,000 worth of CESS tokens πŸ₯‰ 3rd Place: $500 worth of CESS tokens

πŸ“’ Additional Reward

βœ… Course Completion NFT – Awarded to all students who pass the exercises, serving as an on-chain credential for your learning.

This cohort is completely free and open to students looking to gain practical blockchain experience with CESS decentralized storage, smart contracts, and custom pallets and many more.

πŸ“… Key Dates

πŸ“… Course Start Date: March 24th, 2025 πŸ“Œ Exercises after each Module πŸ“Œ Project Submission and Oral Presentation Deadline: July 22nd, and July 25th 2025 πŸ“Œ Winner Announcement: July 28th, 2025

What You’ll Learn

  • Blockchain & Web3 Fundamentals: Before diving into the CESS Network, we'll first explore the fundamentals of Blockchain and Web3 to build a solid foundation.

  • Introduction to CESS: What it is, its development history, and why it's a game changer in the decentralized storage space.

  • CESS Architecture and Key Technologies: Dive deep into the network's structure and technologies.

  • The CESS Ecosystem: Explore user roles, participation benefits, and current applications.

  • Node Setup and CESS Accounts: Learn about becoming a node, and setting up CESS accounts.

  • Consensus and Storage Node Demos: A step-by-step guide to running consensus and storage nodes.

  • DeOSS and REST API: Discover decentralized object storage on CESS, and how to use the REST API for scalable and secure data storage.

  • dApp Development: Build dApps using Ink! and Solidity smart contracts on CESS, complete with practical examples.

  • Custom Pallets: Learn how to build and integrate custom pallets to contribute to the network’s development.

This course equips you with the knowledge and tools to engage with the CESS Network, whether you're a developer looking to integrate CESS services or a user exploring the benefits of decentralized data storage. You'll also have access to developer bounties, grants, and opportunities for project incubation.

Join us to unlock the potential of decentralized data management with CESS!

Cohort Participation & Rewards

1️⃣ Course Completion NFT (Exercises Requirement)

How to Earn the NFT

  • Score at least 60% of the Exercises to qualify for the CESS Course Completion NFT. (The exercise score will contribute 20% to the final course score.)

  • The NFT serves as proof of participation and completion, valuable for future job opportunities and Web3 credentials.

Exercises Format

  • Multiple-choice questions covering CESS Course.

  • Ensures students gain strong theoretical knowledge before competing in the project phase.

2️⃣ Project Submission & Prizes

Eligibility

  • Students should submit and present a project orally. (The exercise score will contribute 80% to the final course score.)

  • Projects can be submitted individually or in teams (max 2 members).

  • Must utilize CESS in one of the following ways:

    • CESS Storage – DeOSS, CDN, or decentralized storage

    • CESS Smart Contracts – Ink! or Solidity on CESS

    • CESS Pallets – Custom Substrate runtime modules

Final Scoring System (for Teams & Individuals) Each team member’s final score is calculated as:

Final Score = (Exercise Score * 0.2) + (Project Score * 0.8)

To determine the team’s final ranking, we use the simple average of all individual final scores within a team:

Team Final Score = Sum of Individual Final Score / Number of Team Members

Example Calculation for a 2-Member Team

Student
Exercise Score (20%)
Project Score (80%)
Final Score

Alice

86%

Bob

83%

Team Final Score = (86 + 83) / 2 = 84.5

Evaluation Criteria for Projects (80%)

  • Technical Innovation – How effectively CESS is integrated.

  • Functionality & Usability – How well the project works.

  • Presentation & Documentation – Clarity, explanation & code quality.

Submission Format

  • GitHub Repository with project source code.

  • README file explaining:

    • Project overview & CESS integration.

    • Setup instructions for testing the project.

    • Short demo video (3-5 min) presenting the project.
